Verse for any and every Month

...you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.  - Mark 12:30

Love is often a misused word that is mentioned sometimes even at the very thought of ice cream.  But when the word love is used to describe how we feel about our creator, Lord and Savior, it is to mean more than our love for frozen dairy.  Jesus told his disciples to love God entirely - whole heart, soul, mind and strength.  Do you love God with everything you have?  Just something to ponder.

Students don’t forget to be raising money throughout the month of January!

From the Youth Director

It is, once again, a new year. I feel as though I just
wrote that in a newsletter, and already a year
has passed. Isn’t it interesting that we end every
year with a focus on Christ? As people around
the world recognize His deity and  contemplate
His saving grace`during the Christmas season,
Christ is more readily shared that month, than
during any other time of the year. Although I
consider this a blessing, I want to draw your
attention to Romans 1:16:

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of
Christ; for it is the power of God unto
salvation to everyone that believes…
For I am not ashamed…

If you were to ask Joe Schmo on the
street what two things you should`never talk
about with a stranger I bet he’ll say,
“Religion and politics.”

There is a stigma in today’s society that says
we cannot offend anyone around us by what
we say, so never talk to anyone about politics
or religion for fear they may not like what you say.
(Although, as a Christian, I am offended nearly
every day by the “entertainment” on TV.)

But here in Romans, we are not instructed to
stand in silence, but rather are instructed not
to be ashamed of the Gospel of our Lord
Jesus Christ. Why? Because everyone who
believes what the Gospel says is saved. I am
thankful that the preachers of the gospel after
Jesus died weren’t ashamed, or we wouldn’t
know it today.

Christmas is a time that for many is focused on Christ.
It’s a time in which people are more willing to talk about
Christ or even read the  Bible with their families and
friends. It’s a time where it’s “ok” to talk about “religion.”
What about the rest of the time? I want to commit this
New Year to standing firm in the Holy Word of God.
I want to speak of Christ’s work on the cross with
conviction. I am not going to worry about who I might
offend, for I would rather offend a person than God.

My hope is that we can all become unashamed. That
we as the Body of Christ can share the gospel in
whatever way we know how at all times! God says
that we are to do all things to glorify him. I don’t know
that I’m glorifying God when I’m brushing my teeth,
but I hope I’m glorifying God when I’m at work,
with my family, or on the road. Can we share Christ
beyond just Christmas?

Have a blessed and safe

New Year!

In Christ, Kathy
